Anne Garde is an established French photographer whose works have been exhibited internationally. In her photography work, Garde is interested in how spaces can hold memory, whether natural or industrial. In particular, she is fascinated by "abandoned places where the void reigns". Her photos are avant-garde, evocative, and often overwhelming works of art. These photographic installations are taken with a 4X5 inches large format camera on a silver film support.

Portrait of Anne Garde
French photographer Anne Garde was born in Libourne in 1946. She lives and works in Paris. She is the author of installations with themes such as nature, city, industry or ports.
Capture the incomprehensible
After studying at the "Ecole du Louvre" and doing some internships in famous Parisian studios, Anne Garde decides to devote herself entirely to photography. With a master's degree in sociology from the "Université Paris-Sorbonne", she understands photography as an art that can perceive what the eye can not see. The artist thus reveals a hidden truth and captures this secret dimension, which is the uniqueness of her work.
An innovative work
Anne Gardes work is a diverse and avant-garde work. She undertakes an authentic search of industrial sites and places of remembrance. She loves to photograph ports, factories, containers and big ships. The images reveal a disturbing strangeness. The photographer dedicates a large part of her work to Asian countries and above all India, which she travels through in search of intercultural connections between East and West. The very contemporary series "La Balade de Nikko Mac Killer", which was realized with the app Hipstamatic, is reminiscent of the series "Fleurs Fraîches", which was produced by David Hockney 2011 on the iPad.
Accepted beyond the borders
Over the years, Anne Garde has asserted herself on the national and international artistic scene. She has already exhibited her works in France, the United States, Bangladesh, India and China. She also received the scholarship of the Villa Medici "Hors les Murs" for her work on India. She publishes in the press and international publishers and has also developed travel books with Laure Vernière, a poet, painter and writer. She conveys her experiences in lectures, colloquia and in teaching.
