Casey McKee

American artist Casey McKee was born in 1976 in Phoenix, Arizona. He has been living in Berlin since 2003, where he works as a freelance artist. His works, a conceptual combination of photography and painting, have been exhibited and acquired throughout Europe, the United States and East Asia.

Stories

Casey McKee's works are a combination of photography and painting, with themes that vary from series to series. Frequently, however, they explore power structures and systems. Within each series, McKee focuses on a single concept that he explores through several works in order to construct a narrative line. He often employs absurd and humorous elements to render the works less didactic, ultimately allowing each viewer to draw their own conclusions.

Hybrid of photography and paintings

McKee begins his creative process with months of planning and photography. His resulting images are then printed onto a canvas in black and white, before he sets to work applying oil paints in various colors to turn each piece into fascinating mixes of medium and form.

An internationally recognized artist

Casey McKee has exhibited his work internationally, at numerous art fairs as well as at solo and group exhibitions. These include the Artfein Gallery in Berlin, Galerie Greulich in Frankfurt, the National Arts Club in New York, the Tucson Museum of Art in Arizona, the Contemporary Art Ruhr in Essen, the Museum Abtei Liesborn in Wadersloh, The Fourth Moscow Biennial of Contemporary Art in Russia, the Ann Nathan Gallery in Chicago and NordArt in Büdelsdorf. His works have also widely featured in a variety of publications, and are held in countless private and public collections all over the world.
